West Haven Sailors Triumph Over Hamden Miners

The West Haven Sailors were triumphant over the Hamden Miners 8-4 on Saturday at West Haven High School.
Hamden was the first to get on the board in the first when Nico DiGioia doubled, scoring one run.
West Haven captured the lead, 4-1, in the bottom of the first when an error scored two runs, B Hersh singled, scoring one run, and an error scored one run.
West Haven added to their early lead in the bottom of the third inning when Derek Porto drew a walk, scoring one run, Andrew Keeler was struck by a pitch, driving in a run, and an error scored two runs.

Kyle Egidio earned the win for the Sailors. The reliever surrendered zero hits and zero runs over two innings, striking out one and walking one. Jack Hawes started on the bump for West Haven. The pitcher surrendered six hits and two runs over three innings, striking out six and walking none. Steve Cifarelli pitched one inning of no-run ball for West in relief. The reliever gave up zero hits, striking out none and walking one.
Sam Ametrano and Hersh each collected one hit for the Sailors. Porto and Kyle Justo each drove in two runs for West Haven. Brandon Chung stole two bases. West Haven Sailors worked the count all day, tallying 10 walks.
