West Haven Sailors easily dispatched Bridgeport Barnums on Saturday at Seaside Park, 9-3.
Bridgeport Barnums opened the scoring in the third after Jose Vasquez drew a walk, scoring one run.
West Haven Sailors took the lead in the top of the fifth inning after Bridgeport Barnums committed an error, Sam Ametrano walked, Anthony Lucibello walked, and Tim Capp was struck by a pitch, each scoring one run.
Collin Tenney earned the win for West Haven Sailors. The pitcher surrendered three hits and zero runs over three and two-thirds innings, striking out six and walking none. Jeffrey Kraus took the loss for Bridgeport Barnums. The pitcher went one and one-third innings, surrendering two runs on one hit, striking out none and walking two. Jack Hawes stepped on the mound first for West Haven Sailors. The hurler allowed three hits and three runs (zero earned) over three and one-third innings, striking out three and walking three. Hayden Lee led things off on the bump for Bridgeport Barnums. The starting pitcher allowed two hits and three runs (zero earned) over four and two-thirds innings, striking out one and walking three.
Ametrano led West Haven Sailors with two hits in three at bats from the leadoff position. Riley Reimund and Brandon Chung each drove in two runs for West Haven Sailors. Lucibello paced West Haven Sailors with two walks. Overall, the team had patience at the plate, piling up six walks for the game.
Meyer Stransky, Bridgeport Barnums's number eight hitter, led the team with two hits in three at-bats.
