West Haven Sailors Shut Out Silk City Sluggers

The West Haven Sailors were victorious against the Silk City Sluggers 5-0 on Monday at Henry Park.

The Sailors got on the board in the first inning after Sam Pines induced Andrew Keeler to hit into a fielder's choice, but one run scored.

Steve Cifarelli earned the win for West Haven. The reliever gave up zero hits and zero runs over two and two-thirds innings, striking out four and walking one. C Zajac opened the game for the Sailors. The starter allowed zero hits and zero runs over three and one-third innings, striking out eight and walking three. John DeBarber also tossed one inning of no-run ball for West Haven in relief. The hurler surrendered zero hits, striking out one and walking none.

Tim Capp provided pop in the middle of the lineup, and led West Haven with two runs batted in. The number three hitter went 1-for-2 on the day. Leadoff hitter Sam Ametrano led the Sailors with two hits in four at bats. Connor Crowley led West Haven with three walks. Overall, the team had a strong eye at the plate, tallying seven walks for the game. West Haven didn't commit a single error in the field. Capp had the most chances in the field with eight.
