West Haven Sailors Lose Despite Out Hitting Simsbury Sabercats

West Haven Sailors fell 2-1 to the Simsbury Sabercats on Wednesday at Memorial Park despite out-hitting them four to two. Sam Ametrano, Ryan Slack, Connor Crowley, and Kyle Justo each collected one hit for West Haven.

The pitching was strong on both sides. Simsbury pitchers struck out six, while the Sailors sat down six.

A sacrifice fly by Tim Capp put West Haven on the board in the top of the first.

Gratta grounded out, which helped the Sabercats tie the game at one in the bottom of the second.

John DeBarber took the loss for the Sailors. The hurler went one-third of an inning, surrendering one run (zero earned) on zero hits, striking out one and walking none. Jesse Buonocore started on the hill for West Haven. The pitcher allowed one hit and one run (zero earned) over five innings, striking out four and walking none.
