West Haven Sailors Hold Off Bridgeport Barnums For Victory to Stay in Winner’s Bracket of CCBL Playoffs

The West Haven Sailors built a 5-run lead in the sixth inning and then held off the Bridgeport Barnums's charge for a 7-5 victory on Saturday. Bridgeport had closed the gap by scoring on a double and a single, but West Haven held on. Sam Ametrano, who does not normally pitch for West Haven, collected the save.
West Haven got on the board in the top of the third inning after Connor Crowley grounded into a fielder's choice, and Bridgeport committed an error, each scoring one run.

Collin Tenney earned the win for West Haven. The starter gave up two hits and two runs (zero earned) over four and two-thirds innings, striking out five and walking three. Hayden Lee took the loss for Bridgeport. The pitcher went four innings, allowing four runs (three earned) on three hits, striking out four and walking three.
Ryan Slack led the Sailors with three runs batted in. The third baseman went 2-for-3 on the day. He was the offense that West Haven needed today.
West Haven remains in the Winner’s bracket, now 3-0 in the playoffs so far.
