The West Haven Sailors could not keep pace with the Western Mass Pioneers 5-2 on Tuesday at West Haven High School.

West Haven did get on the board in the first inning after Kyle Justo singled, scoring one run. But the Pioneers jumped back into the lead in the top of the fourth inning after an error, scoring one. Then Nick Calvanese grounded into a fielder's choice, scoring another. Western Mass would add two more in the top of the fifth which would be all the run support they needed.

Chris Zajac took the loss for West Haven. The pitcher went three and one-third innings, allowing two runs, one of which was earned, on two hits, striking out five and walking three.

Sam Ametrano, Ryan Slack, Nate Seluga, Tim Cap, Brandon Chung, and Justo each collected one hit for West Haven. Justo led the Sailors with one run batted in. The cleanup hitter went 1-for-3 on the day. Chung also stole two bases.
