West Haven Sailors Defeat Glastonbury Arrows in opening round of CCBL Playoffs

The West Haven Sailors were victorious against the Glastonbury Arrows by a score of 6-2 on Wednesday at West Haven High School.

West Haven got on the board in the bottom of the first inning after Sam Ametrano doubled to left field, and Hersh grounded out, each scoring one run. West Haven added two runs in the third. making the score 4-0.

Steve Cifarelli earned the win for the Sailors. The starting pitcher surrendered one hit and zero runs over five innings, striking out four and walking one. Graydon Vyse took the loss for Glastonbury.. The hurler went three and one-third innings, surrendering five runs (three earned) on six hits, striking out one and walking one.

West Haven collected 10 hits in the game. Hersh drove the middle of the lineup, leading the Sailors with three runs batted in. The cleanup hitter went 1-for-3 on the day. Spadaccino led West Haven with three hits in three at bats. Connor Crowley stole two bases.

Next up for West Haven Sailors is a game at Black Knights College on Thursday in the next round of the winner’s bracket.
