West Haven Drops Shootout to Bridgeport

Twenty-two total hits, 11 for extra bases and 17 runs highlighted the offensive showcase between the Sailors and Barnums on Wednesday evening. The final score saw Bridgeport prevailing 11-6 in seven innings.
The Barnums took control of the game early, scoring 10 runs before the Sailors got on the board for the first time in the fourth inning. The early attack was all Bridgeport needed as they cruised to a win.
Lefty Will Schreiber started pitching for West Haven as Marco Ratterman and Brock Goodwin relieved his efforts. The Bridgeport lineup hit consistently all day against the West Haven pitching.
Chad Byrd recorded two RBIs for the Sailors in the contest as he notched two doubles on the day. Nicolas Piscioniere, Kyle Justo and Evan Jones all tacked on a run driven in as well. Third baseman Ryan Slack recorded a triple in the effort, one of five Sailors extra base hits. The nine walks within the West Haven lineup bested Bridgeport’s four.
The Sailors next two games are on the road in a doubleheader on Friday evening, with two games vs. the Lakehounds scheduled for 6:30 pm and 8:30 pm start times.
