West Haven Drops Close Contest in Game Two of Doubleheader

After an 11 run output in the first game, the Sailors offense was more quiet in their 3-2 loss to the Lakehounds in the second matchup on Friday.
Each team put on a pitching clinic in the latter matchup of the day, tallying a combined nine hits in the contest. Connor Hume, starter for West Haven, struck out four while allowing just one earned run and walking none. Hume kept West Haven close the whole game on the mound.
After falling in a 2-0 deficit, the second inning saw Sean Cleary cut that in half with his RBI single, bringing home Tyler Fonck to score. Danbury would bring home another, but in the fifth, Paden Larkins used heads up base running to make it a 3-2 game.
The West Haven bats couldn’t replicate the offensive output from the first game played on Friday, however, Tyler Fonck continued his hot stretch of hitting with another extra base hit with his double and drawing a walk.
West Haven will settle with a split of the doubleheader as they gear up for their final regular season game of the year, hosting Hamden on Sunday afternoon.
