The Sailors shutout the Silverbacks Wednesday evening 7-0 in five innings after the game was concluded early due to inclement weather. West Haven managed to plate seven runs on only two hits in the game.

Leadoff hitter and shortstop Dylan Porto scored his first of two runs in the top of the first inning after stealing home to gain a 1-0 lead. Three more runs were tallied in the first frame for West Haven as Kyle Viesselman, Anthony Lucibello and Chad Byrd each drove in a run.

After two quick outs to start the top of the second, six consecutive walks were recorded to West Haven hitters as they extended their lead to seven. Nine of the 10 Sailors batters in the starting lineup finished with at least one walk on the day as the team finished with 11 in total.

Seniors Kyle Egidio and Jake DeBarber combined for four shutout innings while allowing one hit to the Waterbury bats. Lucibello added an inning of scoreless work to ensure the victory.

The heart of the Sailors order in Paden Larkins, Kyle Justo and Kyle Viesselman each scored twice in the win.

The Sailors look to ride the high of the road victory as they prepare for another road matchup Friday evening versus the Southington Black Knights.
