West Haven Bats Can’t Keep Up With Bridgeport in Loss

In a Friday evening matchup between the Sailors and Barnums, it was Bridgeport that took an early lead and never looked back en route to their 8-1 victory. A four run third inning were all the runs the Barnums needed in the win.
Sophomore Connor Hume started on the mound for West Haven and was on point through the first two frames. A couple walks and an error from his infield allowed Bridgeport to gain a lead they wouldn’t give up. Hume went three innings on the bump, allowing three hits and zero earned runs.
West Haven struggled to get the offense going as Anthony Lucibello and Evan Jones were the only two in the lineup to register a hit. The only run for the Sailors came when Zach Rider scored on a passed ball in the top of the fourth.
The Sailors have one day off before spearheading four consecutive games next week. Sunday’s game features a road matchup against the Danbury Lakehounds at 1 p.m.
