After a standout summer with the West Haven Sailors, sophomore catcher and outfielder Tim Cap is moving up to the next level. The Orange, Connecticut native has signed with the Bristol Blues of the New England Collegiate Baseball League (NECBL), continuing his rise through the collegiate baseball ranks.
Cap, a graduate of Amity High School and current player at UConn Avery Point, made a major impact for the Sailors in 2025. Over 81 plate appearances, he batted .368 with a .543 on-base percentage and 1.070 OPS. He collected 21 hits, including 7 doubles and a triple, while driving in 16 runs and scoring 18. Cap also showed patience at the plate with 18 walks and went a perfect 5-for-5 in stolen base attempts.

Defensively, Cap was a steady presence behind the plate and in the outfield, recording 89 putouts and 5 assists over 95 total chances, committing just one error for a .989 fielding percentage.
His strong summer came on the heels of an excellent spring season at UConn Avery Point. In 39 games, Cap hit .372 over 121 at-bats with 45 hits, 40 runs scored, and 50 RBIs. He tallied 14 doubles, 4 triples, and 5 home runs, finishing with a .678 slugging percentage and a .542 OBP. In the field, he recorded 229 putouts, 12 assists, and only 3 errors for a .988 fielding percentage.
Now headed to the NECBL, Cap will continue his development with the Bristol Blues. “Tim brought a competitive edge and consistency to our lineup every single game,” said Sailors owner Tim Binkoski. “He’s disciplined at the plate, sharp in the field, and just flat-out competes. We’re excited to see him take on this new opportunity in Bristol.”
