Both teams were strong on the bump on Friday, but the West Haven Sailors were just a little bit stronger at the plate in their 3-1 victory over the Waterbury Silverbacks.

West Haven was the first to get on the board in the first when Tim Cap singled, scoring one run.

Zach Drewry walked in the third, which helped Waterbury Silverbacks tie the game at one. The Sailors reached on an error in the seventh inning, giving them the decisive lead.

Jack Hawes began the game for West Haven and was strong in his showing yet again. The pitcher allowed just three hits and one run over four innings, striking out six. His efforts led the Sailors to another win. West Haven Sailors turned one double play in the game behind Hawes. West Haven was sure-handed in the field and didn't commit a single error.

Zachary Rider went 2-3 from the leadoff position, but it was Paden Larkins who stepped up for the Sailors with two runs batted in from the number seven spot in the lineup. Larkins RBIs would be the difference in the game.

West Haven will host the Bridgeport Barnums next.
