Tenney Continues to Shine as West Haven Defeats Hamden

Last week, sophomore starter Collin Tenney took home West Haven’s Pitcher of the Week Award after an impressive week on the bump. He proved it was no fluke as he shoved another six innings against Hamden in the Sailors’ 6-3 victory Wednesday evening.
The Sailors drew first blood after Ryan Miressi doubled to bring home Tyler Fonck. Nicholas Piscioniere followed that up the very next at-bat with an RBI double of his own to quickly put West Haven in front 2-0.
Hamden fought to tie the game at two and three at separate points, but the Sailors took back the lead for good in the bottom of the sixth after Piscioniere brought home Fonck on a Hamden error. Two more insurance runs were added to pad the West Haven lead in the victory.
The pitching staff were inspired by Tenney’s production as the bullpen delivered three shutout innings. Marco Raterman, Steve Cifarelli and Jake DeBarber combined for five strikeouts in their appearances. 13 total strikeouts between the four arms guided the Sailors on path to a win.
A comfortable home win brings momentum heading into Thursday’s road matchup against Meriden as West Haven looks to make it back-to-back wins.
