Strong Hitting Not Enough As West Haven Sailors Falls To Silk City Sluggers

The West Haven Sailors fell 5-3 to the Silk City Sluggers on Monday at West Haven High School despite out-hitting them eight to five. Derek Porto, Connor Crowley, and Kyle Justo each collected two hits for West Haven.
West Haven got on the board in the bottom of the first inning after Justo singled to center field, and Hersh grounded out, each scoring one run.
Silk City tied the game in the top of the third thanks to an error, and a walk by Wood.

In the top of the fourth, the Sluggers broke the tie when Braiden Alaimo singled, scoring two runs. Then an error followed to extend the lead to 5-2.
Crowley and Justo each drove in one run for West Haven. The Sailors had a strong eye at the plate, piling up six walks for the game. Sam Ametrano and Tim Capp led the team with two free passes each. Porto stole two bases. West Haven stole five bases in the game and turned one double play in the game.
