Strong Hitting Not Enough As West Haven Sailors Falls To Meriden Riptide CCBL

Even though the West Haven Sailors collected nine hits to the Meriden Riptide’s four, they still fell 8-6 on Monday at West Haven High School. Ryan Slack, Paden Larkins, and Connor Crowley each collected two hits for West Haven.
A home run to left field by Raf Rodriguez put the Riptide on the board in the top of the first.
A triple by Tim Capp gave West Haven the lead, 3-2, in the bottom of the first.

Meriden took the lead in the top of the fourth. Rodriguez homered to left field, scoring two runs, 4-3.
Evan Jones singled to center field, which helped West Haven tie the game at four in the bottom of the fourth.
Meriden jumped into the lead in the top of the sixth when Antonio Belgrove singled, scoring two runs, Tyler Duffy drew a walk, scoring one run, and Ryan Barbieri hit a sacrifice fly, scoring one run.
West Haven amassed nine hits in the game. Capp provided pop in the middle of the lineup, and led West Haven Sailors with two runs batted in. The 3-hole hitter went 1-for-4 on the day.
