Sailors Roll Over Lakehounds in First Game of Doubleheader, Tenney Goes the Distance

West Haven won in convincing fashion over Danbury in the first game of a doubleheader on Friday with a final score of 11-2. From the first inning, the Sailors were in control to set the tone of the first of two matchups.
With two outs in the first, Kyle Viesselman got the scoring started with an RBI single to drive in two. The third inning saw West Haven quickly load the bases. Dylan Avgent scored on a wild pitch and a Tyler Fonck RBI double extended the lead to 5-0.
Danbury plated two runs in the fourth inning, the only time they would score in Collin Tenney’s complete game effort. The 2026 All-Star pitched all seven innings while allowing two runs (one earned) and striking out six. Tenney continues his already incredible season by going the distance and limiting bullpen opportunities in the doubleheader.
More insurance was added in the seventh inning after Ryan Slack smacked a solo shot, CJ Berlingo recorded an RBI single and Kyle Justo hit an RBI double as the Sailors got past the double digit mark. An all around great team effort contributed to a strong win.
This was the first game of Friday’s doubleheader.
