Runs Hard To Come By In West Haven Sailors Win Versus Meriden Riptide

Both teams were strong on the bump on Friday, but the West Haven Sailors defeated the Meriden Riptide 3-1. Jesse Buonocore started the game for West Haven and recorded 13 outs.

The Sailors opened the scoring in the top of the fifth thanks to two singles. West Haven first got on the board when Sean Cleary singled, scoring one run.

Buonocore earned the win for West Haven. The hurler gave up three hits and zero runs over four and one-third innings, striking out two and walking two. Brandon Cahill took the loss for Meriden. The pitcher went five and one-third innings, giving up three runs on six hits, striking out eight and walking three. Steve Cifarelli collected the save. Cleary went 2-for-2 at the plate and led the team with one run batted in.
