Pitching Rules as West Haven is Shut Out in Opening Playoff Matchup

It was a quiet day with the bats between the Sailors and Lakehounds as the teams combined for two runs on 10 hits. Danbury fought for the win as they grabbed a 2-0 victory.
The only two runs of the contest came in the bottom of the second inning for Danbury. These were the only runs Brian Goglia allowed in his six inning outing. Neither were earned as Goglia struck out seven Lakehounds batters in the loss.
The Sailors lineup simply couldn’t keep up with Lakehounds starter Nevin Scaperotti in the loss. Only mustering four hits and drawing two walks, West Haven couldn’t get their offense going as Scaperotti pitched a complete game shutout in Danbury’s win.
Junior Paden Larkins registered the only extra base hit of the day for West Haven with his double in the fourth inning. He was the only player to reach third base in the game for the Sailors. Zach Rider tallied the only stolen base for the Sailors.
West Haven must rebound quick after dropping their opening playoff game as they’re slated to face off against the Bridgeport Barnums Friday evening.
