After two standout summers with the West Haven Sailors, first baseman Jeremy Rodrigues is taking his game to the professional level. The Monroe, Connecticut native has signed a contract with the Williamsport Crosscutters of the MLB Draft League — a hybrid league that transforms into a professional showcase in its second half, beginning July 16 and running through early September.
Rodrigues was a force in both of his summers with the Sailors. In 2023, he posted a .453 batting average over 81 plate appearances, with a .469 on-base percentage and 1.202 OPS. He tallied 34 hits, including 23 singles, 4 doubles, 4 triples, and 3 home runs, while driving in 20 runs and scoring 22. He added 3 stolen bases and struck out just twice. In the field, he was perfect — recording 78 putouts and 4 assists across 82 total chances for a 1.000 fielding percentage.

He followed that up with another dominant performance in 2024, batting .443 over 61 at-bats with a .500 OBP and a 1.238 OPS. He collected 27 hits, including 6 doubles, 3 triples, and 2 home runs, with 18 RBIs and 19 runs scored. He also walked six times and added two more stolen bases. Defensively, he remained reliable with 16 putouts over 18 total chances.
Rodrigues' impact went beyond the box score. He was named CCBL Player of the Year in 2023 and CCBL Offensive Player of the Year in 2024, and was selected to the CCBL All-League First Team in both seasons.
A right-handed hitter and thrower, Rodrigues is coming off an exceptional 2025 spring season at the University of Bridgeport. He appeared in 49 games, tallying 170 at-bats with 61 hits, 42 RBIs, and 24 extra-base hits—including 12 doubles, 2 triples, and 10 home runs. He slashed .359/.453/.629 for a remarkable 1.082 OPS and showed his speed on the basepaths with 49 runs scored and 23 stolen bases in 25 attempts.
Defensively, he was rock-solid. Across 358 total chances, he recorded 332 putouts, 23 assists, and only 3 errors, turning 29 double plays and finishing the season with a .992 fielding percentage.
Now joining the Crosscutters for the league’s professional second half, Rodrigues will continue his baseball journey at the next level.
“Watching Jeremy grow over two seasons in West Haven has been a privilege,” said Sailors owner Tim Binkoski. “He plays the game the right way — with energy, toughness, and a quiet confidence. We’re proud to see him take this step and know he’s going to thrive in Williamsport.”
