Goglia’s Impressive Outing and Jones’ Consistent Hitting Lead to West Haven’s Player of the Week Honors

Two players for the Sailors stood out during the week of July 20 to July 26. Junior starter Brian Goglia won the team’s Pitcher of the Week Award while sophomore infielder Evan Jones’ bat won him the team’s Player of the Week.
Though the Sailors came up short in their loss to the Lakehounds on July 23, Goglia’s performance while toeing the rubber can’t go unnoticed. The right hander threw six innings and struck out seven batters. He allowed two runs, however, neither were earned and gave up six hits while surrendering just a single walk. His resilient performance may not have earned him a win, but was good enough to get recognized as West Haven’s Pitcher of the Week.
Evan Jones only recorded two hits during the week, but they accounted for three RBIs as they came in clutch spots. Jones also added a walk and stolen base while finishing the week with a slashline of .500/.714/.750 as he took home West Haven’s Player of the Week Award.
